Being in the wedding industry it seems that I should know about where some of our traditions come from and what they mean …. If anything. Some of them are pretty obvious and others not so much. So I am going to share some of the history of #weddingcustoms. Just for fun.
It seems to me that the Maid of Honor often receives more attention then the BEST MAN. But in the olden days, the best man earned his name… and place of honor.
The tradition is thought to have begun back in 200AD, that’s a long time ago. It was customary in Europe that men married woman from their own townships and communities. Unlike here in the #Bahamas, woman were sometimes in short supply. Of course this led to the men looking and sneaking into the neighboring village were they were certainly not welcomed.
The groom and his friend would capture any young lady who had ventured beyond the safe boundaries. The friend became know as #bestman.
